These are the events approved by the State Science Olympiad Supervisors at their meeting at the George Washington University on May 17, 2009. These lists show all the events that will appear in the Coach's Manual, plus the two Trial Events* in each division approved by the New York State Board of Directors, plus a Pilot Event** for the 2010 New York competitions. Each New York State Regional Coordinator will select the official events that will be used for their regional tournaments. This list will include a minimum of 18 of the official events and at least two of the approved trial/pilot* events.
We are in the process of compiling resources that will help the students prepare for their events. These resources include the presentations made at the New York State Science Olympiad Coaches Workshop, as well as tests from prior years. Students should be aware that the rules for almost every event change from year to year and that tests from prior years may not cover the material being emphasized for the current year - these tests are presented to allow students to see the range and difficulty level they may expect to see at the various levels of competition. As such, each test will indicate whether it was a Regional or State level test.

Please be aware that the material presented here is owned by the individual who created it - the Workshop presentations are the property of the presenters and the tests are the property of the individual test writers. While you may reproduce any of the materials here for study purposes, the names of the individual(s) that appear on those files MUST NOT BE REMOVED.

Click on the name of an event to access the resources for it. If an event is not "clickable" we have not received any resources for it at this time.

* Denotes a New York State Trial Event. Click on the event name for the official rules. Also be sure to check the Rules Clarifications page for corrections and/or changes to the official rules.
** Denotes a New York State Pilot Event. Any student from a school may enter this event; they do not have to be one of the 15 team members. The event will not count towards the team's overall score, but it will be scored and medals will be awarded.
New events are listed in bold print.
