Dear Science Olympiad Coach,

The Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Middle School Science Olympiad Team would like to invite you to the 2nd annual Division B invitational, Saturday, January 23, 2010.

Last year's invitational was extremely successful - despite the winter weather. Because of this, I have decided, to host the competition again. I know that my students loved meeting students from other schools and we benefitted from the practice tremendously. In addition to needed practice, having the invitational so close to the competition, but far enough from the start of the season, might provide the energy boost that many teams need during the Mid-Winter motivational slump.

In order to pull off another successful competition experience, I will need some help from each of you who choose to attend. I am asking that, for each participating team, one coach supervise an event and bring supplies, tests, answer keys, and equipment on the day of the competition. The more teams that participate, the more events can be run, and the more beneficial the overall experience will be for the students and coaches. There is a place on the registration form where your team can sign up for the event you would like to supervise. I will try the best that I can to give you your first choice, but that is not always possible.

To maximize the invitational tournament experience and help the participating teams when they return to their schools and continue their preparation for the regional competitions, I would like to give each school a folder containing blank copies of the tests given that day and an answer key. Because of the preparation required to make the folders, I am asking that, for each test written for the invitational, blank copies of the test and answer key be submitted at a.m. registration.
