New York State's Science Olympiad Competition for Division B is held each spring. Based on the number of participating schools from around the state, the top two teams go on to compete in the National competition. This year's State Competition information:

Trial/Pilot Events
Helicopter Egg Drop: Students will construct a device which uses a helicopter blade to safely transport a raw chicken egg from a specified height to the floor.
Buoy Oh Buoy (Physical Science Lab): Teams will compete in activities and answer questions about the determination of density of solids, liquids, and gases; the determination of concentrations; the behavior of gases according to the gas laws (Boyle's Law, Charles Law and Pascal's Principle); and using Archimedes's Principle.

Online scheduling for events that are designated as "Sign Up" on the State Schedule will be available from 8:00 PM on Sunday, March 25 until 8:00 PM Saturday, April 7. Any team that has not used the online scheduling form for events by 8:00 PM on April 7 will have to sign up for times at registration at SUNY-Ulster on Friday, April 20.
